Blue Valentine

bluevalentine_whatareyouthinkingabout_hdMy film review of Blue Valentine. A simple yet affecting story that  weaves the  bitter disintegration of a marriage against a courtship of sincere and poignant beginnings, these two shades of intimacy are contrasted  in fragments of time, skillfully plotted by the non-linear direction of director Cianfrance in a style that itself observes the joy and pain of memory.  Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams deliver outstanding nuanced performances drawing the audience into the raw intensity of a doomed romance. The film subtly asks troubling and crucial questions about the fragile nature of human relationships and the idealistic simplicity of romance, yet gives its audience no real answers to its brutal consequences.
